There has been a community of Christians praying together on this site for over a thousand years and in walking through these doors you are dipping your toe into that rich history.

What you will find at the Tower is a warm, welcoming and loving family. We are an inclusive church who welcome anyone and everybody, no matter who you are, who you love or what you’ve done. We believe that we are all loved and valued by God equally, and so we hope to share some of that love with you.

If you’ve never been to church before, some of the services might feel a bit strange at first, and the language a bit odd. If that is the case, don’t worry! We’re not stuffy here so relax, and if you have any questions just ask! The language of the Church and its worship is a bit different from the rest of society and its meaning is more layered (a little like poetry). Because of this, especially during worship, we listen a little differently. One way of approaching it in a service is, instead of listening in the way you might to the 6 O’clock News, try listening in the way you would having heard the words ‘Once upon a time…’. You’ll notice that you’re still listening for truth, but hearing it in a different way. Perhaps now hearing something of the ‘love’ between the lines.

All you will need to participate in the service will be in the hymn book and service book given to you at the door. If you want to, join in the bits in bold, and sing the hymns where you can. If you are attending a Communion service and have been Christened, you are more than welcome to come and receive communion when the time comes. If you would rather receive a blessing, come to the altar with your service booklet in hand so that the clergy know what to do. Alternatively, you are more than welcome to stay in your seat.

Following the service, we normally enjoy tea, coffee, biscuits and/or cake. This is a really lovely time to enjoy each other’s company and build friendships.
